Communism In India! capitalism In India! socialism In India ! liberalism In India!
But do you know the real meaning of these ideologies in the true sense?
What is communism?
In one line, communism means “From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs”
But communism is basically a society where there is no money, a money-less society, a state-less country. It is a classless society with no discrimination between the rich and poor such as a society where the means of production, such as land, farms, industries, and factories all of them are operated and owned by the laborers, by the common people. The economic system is where the free exchange of goods and services is controlled by individuals’ governments.
Although the term communism did not come into use until the 1840s. Actually, it is derived from Latin communism, which means “shared or common” – the vision of a society that may be considered communist appeared in the 14th century BC.
Basics of Communism In India:-
Whenever we hear the word communism Karl Marx, the Soviet Union, and countries like china come to our mind. But when we go through the basic definition of communism the foundational ideas of communism are actually thousand years old. Throughout human history, you will get to see examples.
If we talk about today’s communism, then Karl Marx is called the father of communism, who published the “communist manifesto” in 1848.
Who is Karl Marx:-
Karl Marx was a german philosopher who was born in a german Rhineland middle-class family. who had abandoned their religion in an attempt to assimilate into an anti-Semitic society? He studied at the University of Berlin in philosophy and received a doctorate from the University of Jena in 1841, later he turned to journalism and soon became a political radical. Karl Marx grew up in an era when the industrial revolution had just begun.
The industrial revolution brought about big machines and factories. The laborers working in these factories quite often worked in very bad conditions. The owners of these factories were often rich people who exploited their workers. the owners of these factories made their workers work for the maximum hours and least amount with no profit.
History of Communism In India:-
As a solution to the problems, Karl Marx imagined a society where there are no differences between the rich and poor. In a way, he imagined a “Utopia” as a perfect society that does not exist in reality and he named this utopia communism.
In his communist manifesto, he revealed the details of how communism can be achieved. He said that workers together can overthrow the monarchy that exists. Such a society will be built where the means of production will not be owned by a single owner but rather by the entire public. In a communist society, there won’t be any class or discrimination on the basis of religion and race.
“Everyone owns everything” As Karl Marx was a philosopher; he did not see the practical implementation of communism established.
It was majorly seen after the Russian revolution of 1917. In Russia, communist workers together overthrow the Russian monarch who used to be called the CZAR at that time, and their leader LENIN for the first time implemented communist ideas on a big scale. Lenin took some
Revolutionary steps for his first time
:• the human right of the laborers were recognized.
- the working week was limited to 8 hours per day and 5 days a week.
- women are introduced to education.
- for farming, the land was taken away from rich landlords and redistributed to farmers.
- The factories were nationalized.
In mark’s manifesto, it is written that the public will control everything. So you can say that the communism implemented by Lenin was a little different from the ideas thought out by Marx. He banned the rest of all political parties and established a one-party state.
So the Marxist – Leninist political structure is called “Soviet communism”.
But obviously, every communist did not agree with this Leninism, so there was a very famous polish communist ROSA LUXEMBOURG was against Leninism. She used libertarian marxism. Such as; marxism philosophy where people are given “freedom of speech”
But when Lenin died in 1924. After him came STALIN who implemented his own ideas of communism, which were worse than Lenin’s.
Stalin’s communist idealogy went further away from Marxism. The ideology he tried to increase the output of factories, and for that, he leaned the laborers to work more, which makes the labor conditions worse and the economic condition so bad that millions of people died due to famine and hunger. His idealogy is considered state capitalism.
After Stalin, came MAO whose communist idealogy was much more extreme and all the more violent. There is the very famous dialogue of his “
- “All political power comes from the barrel of a gun”
- This means in some way or the other way he advocates for violence.
- His idealogy is called “Maoism” and the word Maoist comes from here only.
- Inspired by the Soviet Union many countries around the world tried to implement communism.
- But one thing was common in all these countries is that all these countries had “dictatorship”
But millions died because of this on one hand dictators like Stalin and mao killed people and on the other hand, Hitler in Germany and Mussolini in Italy, and Franco in Spain, killed people in their own countries of the doubt of them being communists.
Successful ideas of Communism In India:-
- Today everyone generally accepts that racism, casteism, and sexism are bad.
- No inheritance:- each one of us raise our voice against nepotism, dynasty, and politics.
- workers rights
- The concept of minimum wages for laborers exists in most countries
- Free education and health in developed countries.
Failure of Communism In India:-
Due to communism, the theory of equality gives space to dealerships.
In a classless society, the society has a power vacuum, which makes space for dictatorship due to this one-party rule established, and the freedom of people is snatched away in such a case government will control all factories, lands, all distribution processes, and corruption takes place.
Basically, we can not establish communism on a country level, but it can be implemented in small-scale societies.
